Racers 14th Thru 36 Holes At FAU Spring Break Championship

The Murray State men's golf team slipped to 14th place at the FAU Spring Break Championship in Boca Raton, Fla., at The Fountains Country Club.
The Racers were a shot better than round one with a 296. Their 36-hole total of 593 was ahead of 15th place DePaul at 599. MSU was behind host Florida Atlantic in 13th place at 590 and Minnesota at 587.
Patrick Newcomb led the Racers with a spot in 26th place in the field of 90 competitors with scores of 73-71=143, while Wade Thompson was 52nd with scores of 75-74=149. Tyler Brown had scores of 74-76=150 and was in 61st place, while Hunter York and William Hunt shared 67th place. York had rounds of 77-75=152 with Hunt carding scores of 76-76=152.
Florida State was the leader at 556, with Northern Illinois (563), Jacksonville State (564), Ohio State (566), Florida Gulf Coast (567), Xavier (568), South Florida (578), Marshall (579), Michigan State (580) and Connecticut (583) rounding out the top-10.
The event wraps up with the final 18 holes on Sunday.
