Grimes Sets School Record in 2,000 Steeplechase at Vanderbilt Black & Gold

Junior Anna Grimes set a new school record for the Murray State women's track & field team when she competed in the 2,000-meter steeplechase at the 2012 Vanderbilt Black & Gold in Nashville, Tenn.
Grimes is the first Racer runner to participate in a 2,000 steeplechase, finishing the race in 7:30.00. The Fort Meade, Md., native also set a personal-best in the 3,000 in a time of 11:00.77.
Freshman LaShea Shaw was one of three MSU participants who earned top-10 finishes. Shaw claimed fourth in the 100 hurdles, with a career-best time of 14.45. Fellow freshman Sydney Potts then earned seventh in the javelin, with a throw of 33.40m (109'7”).
The final top-10 finish came from rookies Tonia Pratt. Pratt finished eighth in the discus, with a career-best throw of 40.54m (133'0”).
The Racers will return to action, March 30-31 when they travel to Oxford, Miss., to take part in the Ole Miss Invitational.
