Rhodes Earns OVC Co-Hitter of the Week Honor

After hitting safely in all five games last week and driving in 10 runs, Murray State senior catcher Jacob Rhodes was named the Ohio Valley Conference Co-Hitter of the Week, the league office announced Monday.
Rhodes (Belleville, Mich.) went 9-for-18 with a double, triple, home run, 10 RBIs and seven runs scored in helping the Breds to a 3-2 week. He also drew a pair of walks and was hit by a pitch.
He began his week by having a career day against Mid-Continent. In four plate appearances, Rhodes went 2-for-3 with a grand slam and six RBIs. He followed it up by coming off the bench to go 2-for-3 with a run scored against Belmont.
Rhodes began the Morehead State series by collecting an RBI triple and scoring a pair runs in the victory. He came back on Saturday and drove in a pair of runs with a double. He also drew a walk and was hit by a pitch. Rhodes closed out the week by going 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored.
On the season, Rhodes is hitting .270 with four doubles, one triple, one home run and 16 RBIs. He is currently on a five-game hitting streak and has reached safely in eight-straight games.
