Newcomb Named OVC Golfer Of The Week For Fourth Time

Murray State's Patrick Newcomb was named the Ohio Valley Conference Golfer of the Week as announced by the league office.
This marks the fourth time this season and second time in three weeks, that the junior from Benton, Ky., has won the OVC weekly honor. He was named the winner last week (March 21) and also in the fall (Oct. 5) and (Nov. 2).
Newcomb earned league recognition after he finished fourth in the strongest field the Racers have faced this season at the FAU Spring Break Championship held at The Fountains Country Club in Boca Raton, Fla.
Competing in a field of 90 players from the likes of Florida State, Ohio State and South Florida, Newcomb fired rounds of 72-71-67 to finish at 210 (-3). His 4-under round of 67 on the final day of played helped vault him from 26th to fourth in the final standings.
Newcomb currently ranks third in the OVC in stroke average (72.5).
