Soccer Wins First Game of Spring Season 2-1 Against Western Kentucky

Murray State soccer kicked off team play this past weekend, defeating Western Kentucky 2-1 at Cutchin Field Saturday afternoon.
The Racers picked up goals from Jenelle Cunningham and Julie Mooney in the first half of action to take a 2-0 lead at halftime.
WKU countered with a second half goal off of a corner kick, but the Racers were able to hold on for the one-goal win.
" I was impressed with our goals and team effort today," head coach beth Acreman said. "Jenelle's goal was the best I have seen in a while. She was a leader today and inspired the team with her great goal. We still have a lot to work on in the next three weeks before the end of our spring season but I was really pleased with the team's effort. We are a young team and I am excited to see where these players take our program in the fall."
The Racers conclude team play next week, traveling to Murfreesboro, Tenn., to take on Middle Tennessee State at noon on Saturday, April 7.
