Racers Open Final Home Week Against Bethel & Samford

Murray State kicks off action in its final home week of the season with a pair of mid-week doubleheaders, welcoming Bethel to Racer Field Tursday, April 24, and Samford Wednesday, April 25.
The Racers are coming off of a pair of wins at home against Austin Peay that saw them out-score the Lady Govs 21-5 on Sunday to take the series win.
Freshman shortstop Alexa Becker was named Ohio Valley Conference adidas Player of the Week for April 16-22. Becker drove in 11 runs in the Racers four games last week, plating three runs in MSU's 7-0 win against Campbellsville. She recorded four RBIs in each of the Racers Sunday victories over Austin Peay, including a three-run home run in the first inning of a 15-4 win.
The Racers had a number of solid individual performances on the week, with five players batting at least .400 in the four games, led by Sarah Anderson's 6-for-10 week at the plate. Megan Glosser and Mo Ramsey each scored six times on the week, and Casey Castile helped drive in six runs.
CheyAnne Gaskey tossed 10.1 innings of shutout softball in a pair of appearances, picking up a 7-0 complete game shutout against Campbellsville while also holding Austin Peay scoreless in 3.1 innings of relief to record the win. Chelsey Sullivan also had a strong outing for MSU, keeping APSU to one run in seven innings in a 6-1 victory.
Bethel comes in to Tuesday having lost a pair of games 3-0 and 8-1 to Martin Methodist. Brooklyn Jenkins leads the Wildcats with a .433 batting average in 127 at-bats this season, hitting a team-high 10 home runs and driving in a team-leading 32. Sydney Mcmillin has a team-best seven wins on the pitching staff, while Kathryn Kreuziger carries a 2.68 earned run average.
Samford comes into Wednesday's games having lost three in a row against Chattanooga. Julianne Surane leads the Bulldogs with a .352 average and 22 runs scored, while Madison Dickey is hitting .326 with five home runs, 20 RBI and 21 runs. Misha Aldridge leads the pitching staff with five wins and a 3.81 ERA.
