Racers Compete At ASU Red Wolf Intercollegiate

The Murray State men's golf team started the ASU Red Wolf Intercollegiate Monday with scores of 302 and 307 at RidgePointe Country Club in Jonesboro, Ark.
The Racers (609) were in 20th place and ahead of Belmont (611) and Arkansas State B (619). MSU trailed Drake (607) and Southern Illinois (607).
Tyler Brown led MSU with scores of 72-73=145 for a spot in 24th place in the field of 121 competitors, while Patrick Newcomb was in 61st place with scores of 76-74=150. Hunter York had a spot in 68th place with rounds of 73-78=155, while Wade Thompson was in 116th place with scores of 81-85=166. Chasten Howard had scores of 86-82=168 and was in 119th position.
Austin Peay (572) led the field of 22 teams, with UALR (574), Jacksonville State (581), Vanderbilt (583), Meridian (583), Troy (583), Louisiana-Monroe (584), Arkansas State (589), Tennessee State (589) and Eastern Illinois (590) made up the top-10.
The final round at RidgePointe is Tuesday morning on the course that is playing to a par of 72.
