Football Begins Busy Week with Monday Practice

The Murray State football team entered its final week of spring practice as the team took to the field Monday afternoon. The practice is the first of four practices this week leading into the annual Blue-Gold Bowl Saturday evening at 6 p.m. at Stewart Stadium.
The Racers were forced to add the Monday practice after mother nature washed out Thursday's scheduled workout.
“I thought we had good work today, but it is going to be a long week so we came out with the attitude to taper it off a little bit today,” said head coach Chris Hatcher. “Tomorrow we will do some full tackling and then taper off Thursday and Friday heading into the Spring Game.”
The busy week will continue Tuesday afternoon as the Racers take the field at Stewart Stadium at 3:30 p.m.
Practice Highlights
• Walter Powell caught an 85-yard touchdown pass from Casey Brockman on the first play of bandit.
• The offense closed the first series of bandit with a 13-yard touchdown reception from Carson Beyer.
• Jarius Williams stepped in front of Parks Frazier pass for an interception in the red zone.
• Frazier came back on the next play and threw a touchdown on a screen pass to Nikkous Moore.
