Murray State Director of Marketing and Promotions Morris White announced the addition of 16 students to serve as interns for the 2012-13 school year.
Jessie Best, Amy Boyd, Drew Cunningham, Ray Guthrie, Landon Hardison, Jordan Ludovissie, Jennifer McGill, Alex Price, Kevin Robinson, Joel Scheffer, Raye Anne Swift, Ellyn Troup and Wendi Zickfield will enter their first year as interns for athletic marketing and promotions.
Molly Goodrich, Kenny Martin and Lydia Orf will be returning for a second year.
“While there was a lot of interest in the program, this group of individuals stood out with their enthusiasm and I think they will be very helpful in taking our game atmosphere to the next level,” said White. “Many people don't realize the effort it takes to create a great environment and for it to run smoothly.”
Trey Jurgens, who completed his third year as an intern for Racer athletics, agrees. “The internship offers unrivaled experience in collegiate athletics. I now know what it takes to create a full experience for fans. I'm excited to take what I've learned to my job with the Cincinnati Reds.”
The interns will assist with the development and implementation of all marketing efforts for Racer athletics and special events when the fall semester begins. Duties will range from video board operation to engaging fans to coordinating promotions during time outs and halftimes. A minimum number of office hours are required and each will help coordinate game day for various sports.
“Each student knows that it will be demanding work and long days, but one of things I want them to have is a fun experience. Fun will be at the top of our list next year,” said White.
First year intern, Amy Boyd, echoes that sentiment. “I'd heard from an intern in the past how much fun they had and how involved they got on campus and in athletics, and I wanted to have the opportunity with getting involved and having fun.”
