Racer Soccer Has 13 Home Dates In 2012

The Murray State women's soccer team heads into their 12th season as a program with a challenging 2012 fall schedule that features 13 home games (three exhibitions) on the pitch at Cutchin Field in Murray, Ky.
“We're excited to have 13 home games at Cutchin Field this season, we have good teams coming in that will test us,” MSU Head Coach Beth Acreman said. “Our home games have become the place to be and have an electric atmosphere, so it will be good for us to play in front of our home crowd.”
The Racers start with a series of three exhibition games. The Blue-Gold Scrimmage (Aug. 4) will kick the season off at Cutchin Field, followed by a home exhibition with Illinois State (Aug. 8). The Racers also have an exhibition game at home against Middle Tennessee (Aug. 12).
MSU's season opener is on the road at Louisiana Tech (Aug. 18) in Ruston, La.
After a pair of games at home against Arkansas State (Aug. 24) and Evansville (Aug. 26), the Racers return to the road for games at Western Michigan (Aug. 31) and Indiana State (Sep. 2).
MSU has a three-game home stand at Cutchin Field against Northern Kentucky (Sep. 9), Alabama A&M (Sep. 14) and South Alabama (Sep. 16).
The Racers enter their 10-game Ohio Valley Conference schedule with a three-game road swing at Austin Peay (Sep. 23), followed by Southeast Missouri (Sep. 28) and UT Martin (Sep. 30). MSU hosts new OVC member Belmont at Cutchin Field (Oct. 5), which is followed by road games at SIUE (Oct. 12) and Eastern Illinois (Oct. 14).
The Racers finish the regular season with four straight games at Cutchin Field with Jacksonville State (Oct. 19), Tennessee Tech (Oct. 21), Eastern Kentucky (Oct. 26) and Morehead State (Oct. 28).
The OVC Tournament will be hosted by the regular season champion with the first round and semifinals (Nov. 1-2) and championship match (Nov. 4).
The Racers looks for a championship season since their first OVC regular season title in 2008 and OVC Tournament title in 2009.
“We have a challenging schedule for sure,” Acreman added. “When you look up and down at our non-conference schedule, we have games that will allow us to learn a lot about our team and that's what you want to get ready for the OVC season.”
