Murray State Has 12 Medal of Honor Winners ; 104 Selected to Commissioner’s Honor Roll

Murray State student-athletes showed their prowess in the classroom as 12 Racers were selected to the 2011-12 Ohio Valley Conference Medal of Honor winners, while 104 student-athletes were selected to the Commissioner's Honor Roll. Also, the sports of baseball and men's cross country were awarded the OVC Team Academic Achievement Awards.

The OVC Team Academic Achievement Awards are presented annually in each Conference-sponsored sport to the member institution's team with the greatest percentage of its eligible student-athletes who achieved a 3.25 grade point average or higher.

The 2011-12 Medal of Honor award is given to the student-athlete who achieves the highest grade point average in a conference-sponsored sport. The award winners from MSU are Tyler Beers and Paul Ritzheimer (baseball), Allison Karst (women's basketball), Jordan Althoff (men's cross country), Marc Wynstra (football), Delaney Howson (women's golf), Sophie Hargreaves, Gina Killion and Sonja Murphy (soccer), Leslie Bridges and Chelsey Sullivan (softball) and Becca Lamb (track and field).

The OVC Commissioner's Honor Roll award goes to student-athletes that have a 3.25 GPA or better and were eligible to compete for their teams during the season.
