Cross & Howson Named To NGCA All-America Scholar Team

Murray State women's golf placed two student athletes on the National Golf Coaches Association All-America Scholar Team.
Morgan Cross and Delaney Howson, cornerstones of the MSU team, are also excellent in the classroom.
“I'm thrilled that Morgan and Delaney are being recognized nationally for their academics,” MSU Head Coach Velvet Milkman said. “Our program emphasizes academics and golf performance and each of them have performed at a high level in each area. Morgan was a tremendous leader and competitor in her time at MSU and Delaney has quickly advanced in both areas as well.”
Cross, a senior this past spring and from Elizabethtown, Ky., was a three-time All-Ohio Valley Conference selection for the Racers. First, she earned a spot on the All-OVC Newcomer Team in 2009 and the All-OVC Second Team in 2010. Last spring she was on the All-OVC First Team. Cross was fifth in the OVC last spring with 76.5 scoring average.
Howson, from Newmarket, Ontario, was a sophomore last spring and has already earned OVC Freshman of the Year honors in 2011 and All-OVC First Team in 2012. She was second in the OVC last season with a scoring average of 75.4.
Cross graduated from Murray State in May with a degree in communication disorders, while Howson is majoring in accounting.
Howson earned the prestigious OVC Medal of Honor Award for academics in 2011.
