Patrick Newcomb Named OVC Golfer Of The Week

Murray State's Patrick Newcomb earned part of a three-way Ohio Valley Conference Golf of the Week award as announced by the league office.
Newcomb won medalist honors in a field of 94 at the Wasioto Winds Fall Kickoff held at the Wasioto Winds Golf Club in Pineville, Ky., which ended Tuesday.
The senior from Benton, Ky., fired rounds of 70-70-68 to finish at 208 (-8) and win by two shots. His play helped Murray State to a 16-stroke team victory in a field that included 14 total teams, including three other OVC squads.
After his season opening victory, Newcomb leads the OVC in stroke average (69.3).
Newcomb shared the OVC award with Tomasz Anderson and Andres Schonbaum of Jacksonville State.
