Racers Tee It Up At The Fourth Annual Drake Creek Invitational

Murray State women's golf hosts the fourth annual Drake Creek Invitational Monday and Tuesday at Drake Creek Golf Club in Ledbetter, Ky.
The event calls for a shotgun start both days with 36 holes of stroke play happening Monday with the final 18 holes Tuesday.
Four Ohio Valley Conference members are in the field of 11 teams including, the Racers, Austin Peay, Belmont and Tennessee State. Three teams from the Missouri Valley Conference are competing including, Drake, Northern Iowa and Southern Illinois. Arkansas State, Central Arkansas, Columbia and Jackson State are also entered.
The first three years of the Drake Creek event has had a decided OVC flavor with the Racers winning the championship twice including a win last year by nine shots over Morehead State and the same margin over Eastern Kentucky in 2009. In 2010, Morehead State scored a 13-shot win over Western Kentucky with the Racers finishing third.
The Racers have never won the medalist honor in the three events, but have two runner-up finishes with Morgan Cross last year and Andrea Downer in 2009. Morehead's Marisa Kamelgarn set the scoring record in 2011 with scores of 71-73-71=215.
The Drake Creek course will play to 6,178 yard and to a Par of 72.
