A mini-bus carrying nine members of the women's track and field team on its way to the Indiana University Relays hit a patch of ice and overturned onto its side. The accident occurred on Interstate 69 at Mile Marker 43 shortly before 11 a.m. Although two student-athletes were transported to a nearby hospital, no serious injuries are being reported.
“My first concern is for the student-athletes and coaches involved,” said Director of Athletics Allen Ward. “I'm pleased to learn that no serious injuries occurred as a result of this accident. We are diligently working to notify the parents of the student-athletes to provide them with the information that we know at this time.”
It is anticipated that the women's track team will participate in the meet as planned.
