Racers Lead the Field at APSU Intercollegiate

RESULTS
Murray State University's Delaney Howson shot an impressive 6-under-par 66 to set a new school record as the Racers hold a four-shot lead after the first round of the F&M Bank APSU Intercollegiate at Clarksville Country Club in Clarksville, Tenn.
The senior broke her own record after carding a first round score of 66 and currently leads the field of 83 players. Howson previously beat the school record at the Drake Creek Invitational (Sep. 10) with a score of 67.
Overall, the Racers had a score of 296 to finish the first round in first place out of 14 teams. OVC competitor Eastern Kentucky held second with a score of 300 while Belmont and Houston Baptist were tied for third place after each carded 311.
Adding to the impressive day were two other Racers in the top-10 as Sophie Hillier finished the round tied for fifth with a score of 75 and Minta Yin was tied for ninth after carding 76. Freshman Sydney Trimble had a score of 79 for 22nd place while Jackie Van Meter rounded out the field for the Racers with a score of 83 for 49th place.
In individual play, Gina Nuzzo finished the round with a score of 77 to tie for 12th place. Abbi Stamper carded a score of 81 for 38th place while Leah Rose Judd had 86 for 64th place.
Other team scores include Radford (312), Jacksonville St. (314), Austin Peay (314), Tennessee Tech (323), Towson (324), SIU Edwardsville (324), Lipscomb (328), Northern Kentucky (331), Eastern Illinois (340) and Tennessee State (360).
The Clarksville Country Club is playing to a par of 72 and 5,960 yards.
The second and final round of the event will start Tuesday, Oct. 15 at 8:30 a.m.Â
