Racers Compete in ASU Fall Beach Classic

The Murray State men's golf team competed in the first two rounds of the ASU Fall Beach Classic on Monday at the Peninsula Golf and Racquet Club in Gulf Shores, Ala. After 36 holes, with a team score of 604, the Racers are currently 12th in the field of 13 teams.

West Florida leads the pack with a score of 580 while Louisiana Tech, Louisiana- Monroe and host school Arkansas State are tied for second place after carding a team score of 582.

Murray State had scores of 298-306=604.

Leading the Racers in 22nd place is Preston French after firing rounds of 74-74=148. Jared Gosser finished the first two rounds tied for 45th place with scores of 76-77=153 while Brock Simmons and Chasten Howard tied for 47th place after carding scores of 71-83=154 and 78-76=154 respectively. Rounding out team play was Jordan Smith who shot rounds of 77-79=156 to finish the first two rounds tied for 57th place in the field of 73 players.

In individual play, Duncan McCormick finished the day in 64th place after firing rounds of 77-81=158.

Other team scores included Louisiana-Lafayette (583), Memphis (584), UALR (592), Stephen F. Austin (596), Houston Baptist (597), New Orleans (600), Nicholls State (602) and North Dakota (664). Â
