Edom Named adidas® OVC Freshman of the Week

For the second time in as many weeks, a Murray State women's basketball player has been named adidas® OVC Freshman of the Week. Nikia Edom won the award for games played Dec. 10-16. The honor comes just one week after teammate Janssen Starks became the first Racer of the season to earn the award.

Edom scored a team-high 13 points in Murray State's only game last week at Alabama A&M. She went 3-for-10 from the floor and also 3-for-5 from 3-point range. In addition, the Romeoville, Ill., native was 100 percent at the charity stripe, at 4-for-4, and also pulled down five rebounds and dished out four assists.

Edom and teammate will next play two games in DeLand, Fla., as part of Stetson's 2013 Hatter Classic. The Racer will take on the host Hatters on Friday at 12 p.m., followed by a face-off with Bethune-Cookman Saturday at 2 p.m.
