Gosser Leads Racers At FAU Event - York Aces 18th Hole

Jared Gosser carded a 72 and Hunter York made a hole-in-one Friday to lead the Racers to a share of sixth place in a field of 18 teams at the FAU Spring Break Championship. The 54-hole event is being played at the Fountains Country Club North Course in Boca Raton, Fla.
The Racers had a team 296 and stood in a six place tie with Miami (OH) and ahead of Bethune-Cookman and DePaul who share eighth place at 297.
Gosser led the Racers' scoring in round one with a1-over-par 72, while York had the big shot of the day when he aced the par-3 183-yard 18th hole with a 4-iron. York and Patrick Newcomb each had a 74 as they shared 28th place in the field of 96 players. Preston French was in 43rd place after a 76 and Tyler Brown was in 53rd place after a 77.
Hartford carded a 285 in the opening round to take the lead over Central Florida (289), McNeese State (292), host Florida Atlantic (293) and Loyola of Chicago (294). The rest of the top-15 was made up by Jacksonville State and Florida Gulf Coast at 298 and 12th place Connecticut and FAU B-team at 299. Lafayette was in 14th place while Morehead State (308), Northern Illinois (311), Stetson (316) and Lafayette B-team (329) rounded out the field.
The Fountains North Course is playing to a par of 71 and 6,876.
Round two for the Racers is set for Saturday morning with the final round set for Sunday in Florida.
