Racer Track & Field Travels to Familiar Location This Weekend

The Murray State track and field squad will be traveling to a familiar location this weekend as the Racers head to Carbondale, Ill., for the fourth time this year for the Bill Cornell Spring Classic hosted by Southern Illinois.
This will be the Racers' first meet hosted by SIU during the outdoor season, after making three trips north during indoor competition. In all, 13 women's teams will be competing in Carbondale this weekend, including 16th-ranked Illinois and two other OVC opponents.
653 total student-athletes will be competing at the meet. MSU will be sending 33 athletes to compete in 18 events. The Racers will also be sending three men's cross country runners to compete against men's teams at the meet. The Racers will run in the 3,000 steeplechase and the 5K.
This weekend will also be the first scored meet of the season for the Racers. Things will get kicked off on Friday afternoon with the discus beginning at 2:30. The long jump and 10K will be the other events going on Friday.
Saturday morning will begin at nine with the hammer throw. Running events will begin at 12:30 with the 3,000 steeplechase. Things are scheduled to end with the final event (4x400 meter relay) being ran at 7:15 p.m.
