2012-13 All-Ohio Valley Conference Women's Basketball Teams
Senior Mariah Robinson and freshman Erika Sisk were both honored on Tuesday afternoon when the OVC announced its annual postseason awards. Robinson was named to the All-Conference team, while Sisk was named to the All-Newcomer team, as well as Freshman of the Year.
Robinson led the Racers on the season with 16.5 points per game, a 37.1 3-point percentage, a 86.7 free-throw percentage, as well as 5.9 rebounds per game. She currently ranks seventh on the school's all-time scoring list with 1,560 points and is the program's career leader in both 3-pointers made and 3-pointers attempted. This season, she is currently ranked 23rd in the nation for free throw percentage and ninth for 3-pointers made per game at 3.07.
This is Robinson's second All-OVC honor, having previously been named to the team for the 2010-11 season. The Beaver Dam, Ky. native was the 28th Racer all-time to become an All-Conference honoree and her award this season marks the 50th all-time in MSU history.
Sisk had an outstanding freshman year for the Racers, leading all league freshman with 13.8 points per game. She earned adidas® OVC Freshman of the Week honors a record nine times, breaking the previous mark of seven set by Connie Swift of Tennessee State (1992-93) and Kayla Drake of Eastern Kentucky (2008-09).
Her 385 total points this season places her on track to become the 19th member of Murray State's elite 1,000 Point Club. With 385 points, Sisk's freshman campaign will go down as the fourth best of any Racer who is now in the 1,000 point club, ranking only behind Sheila Smith, Laura Lynn and Michelle Wenning.
The Oxford, Miss., native is now just the second Racer to be named OVC Freshman of the Year, joining Rebecca Remington from the 2001-02 season. She is the fourth MSU player to be named to the All-Newcomer team and 21st to be named to either the All-Freshman or All-Newcomer team. She is now also the 19th freshman in program history to be named to the All-Freshman or All-Newcomer team.
On Wednesday, Robinson, Sisk and the rest of the Racers will look to extend their season when they meet Eastern Kentucky in the first round of the OVC tournament. Tip-off from the Municipal Auditorium in Nashville in scheduled for Noon.
