Women's Tennis Hosts Pair of Key OVC Matches

The Murray State women's tennis team closes out its regular season with a pair of home matches this weekend. UT Martin comes to town for a 2 p.m. match on Friday and Jacksonville State will play the Racers Saturday in a 10 a.m. showdown.

The two match-ups are key to seeding at next weekend's OVC Tournament. Currently the Racers, riding a six-match winning-streak sit in second place, a game ahead of Jacksonville State who's in a tie with Eastern Illinois for third. Martin is 4-3 and in fifth place.

If the Racers can secure the second seed in the conference tournament, they will receive a first round bye next weekend.

Earlier this week, junior Carla Suga was named the ADIDAS OVC Co-Female Tennis Athlete of the Week and was also named the Murray State Pepsi Athlete of the Week. Suga is currently on a six-match singles winning-streak and a three-match doubles winning-streak along with partner Megan Blue.

Blue has won four singles matches in a row and is a perfect 6-0 in conference play. Ashley Canty and Erin Patton are also on four-match singles winning-streaks, while Suzaan Stoltz has won three in a row.
