Lennartsson Surges To 3rd - Racers 4th At OVC Golf Championship

The Murray State Racers improved by three shots in round two of the 2013 Ohio Valley Conference women's golf championship, and look for a big comeback in Tuesday's final round in Dickson, Tenn. at Greystone Golf Club.
Murray State will start the final round 13 shots off the lead.
The Racers carded a 309 in round two after a 312 in the opening round for a 621 total and a share of fourth place with Austin Peay. Eastern Kentucky was the leader after rounds of 308-300=608, ahead of second place Morehead State 308-305=613 and third place Jacksonville State 305-310=615.
Alexandra Lennartsson (76-74=150) carded a 2-over-par 74 to make a jump from ninth place to third in the field of 50 players, while Delaney Howson was in 13th place after scores of 76-78=154. Alli Weaver was in 14th place with rounds of 75-80=155. Sophie Hillier had a spot in 31st place with scores of 85-77=162, while Abbi Stamper was in 35th place with scores of 86-80=166. Hiller's 77 was her career-low at MSU.
After Murray State and APSU sharing fourth place, Tennessee Tech was in sixth place at 642 with Belmont (644), SIUE (667), Eastern Illinois (670) and Tennessee State (777) rounding out the field of the 54-hole championship.
Tuesday's third round finds the Racers paired with Austin Peay and Tennessee Tech starting at 9:40 a.m. with Stamper being the first MSU player off the first tee. MSU follows with Hillier at 9:50 a.m., Weaver at 10 a.m. and Howson at 10:10 a.m. with Lennartsson starting at 10:20 a.m.
There was a hole-in-one scored in the second round when APSU's Jessica Cathey aced the par-3 11th from 132 yards.
The final 18 holes on Tuesday will decide the OVC's representative to the NCAA Women's Golf Tournament.
Greystone GC is hosting the OVC Championship for the fourth straight year and the course is playing to 5,964 yards and to a par of 72.
