The Breds close out their week in Illinois as they travel to face Eastern Illinois in a three-game Ohio Valley Conference series on April 5-7. The series is set to get underway at 3 p.m. Friday afternoon, and continue at 1 p.m. on Saturday. The series will conclude with a 1 p.m. first pitch on Sunday.
INSIDE THE SERIES
The Breds have had their problems against the Panthers in recent years as they are just 2-6 over the past three seasons. EIU swept the season series in 2010 and 2012, while the two teams split a two-game series in 2011. The other Breds victory came in the 2010 OVC Tournament.

Weekend Baseball
The Breds play their final three games in Illinois as they travel to face Eastern Illinois in a three-game series at Coaches Stadium.
Weekend Weather
The forecast looks good for the first two days of the series, but a chance of rain creeps into the forecast for Sunday. Temps are expected to be in the upper 50s for Friday, and mid-60s for Saturday. Sunday has a high of 61 with a 30% chance of showers.
vs. Eastern Illinois
The Breds have struggled of late with the Panthers, losing nine of the last 10 regular-season contests. The lone victory came in the first game of a doubleheader at EIU in 2011.
Rain in Charleston
Rain has been a problem when the two teams have met in Charleston. The weather has forced the series to be shortened to just two games each of the last three series. The last time the two teams played all three games was in 2005, the last series victory for the Breds.
Sunday Baseball
Mother nature has appeared on Sunday over the last month. The Breds have not played a game on Sunday since the series finale against Morehead State. Rain forced the Breds to play a Saturday doubleheader against UT Martin on a Saturday, while snow forced the same against SIU Edwardsville the following week. The series against Austin Peay was played Thurs.-Sat. due to Easter.
Left on Base
Getting runners on base hasn't been the problem as of late, getting them in has been. The Breds have stranded at least 10 runners in four of the last six games, including stranding 11 in each of the last two games.
Elliott Finding Swing
Third baseman Brandon Elliott has found his swing as he has raised his average 72 points over the previous seven games. He has hit safely in all seven games, including three multi-hit games.
Tour of Illinois
The Breds begin their tour of Illinois this week as they play four games in the Land of Lincoln. MSU will play at Southern Illinois on Tuesday, before traveling to Eastern Illinois for the weekend.
Another Strong Outing for Finch
Cameron Finch followed his no hitter with another strong outing against Austin Peay. He allowed just one run on four hits over six innings in the no decision.
Elliott Goes Deep
Brandon Elliott hit his first home run of the season as he hit a 1-0 pitch over the fence in left field in the series opener against Austin Peay. The long ball was the sixth of his career.
On Deck
The Breds return to Reagan Field for a four-game homestand beginning with a game against Evansville on April 9 at 3 p.m. MSU will remain at home for the weekend with a three-game OVC series against Jacksonville State.
