Women’s Soccer Unveils 2013 Schedule

Head coach Beth Acreman has announced the 17 fixtures that will comprise the 2013 Murray State women's soccer schedule. This year's slate will features six home matches and 11 away contests.
"We are excited for the commencement of our 2013 season," said head coach Beth Acreman. "As a staff and team we were extremely disappointed with our results last year, so we have tried to challenge ourselves this year in order to help get us back to where we know we can be."
"We are playing some tough competition in the early part of the season that will help us prepare us for the OVC portion of our schedule," Acreman continued. "Our away travel will also give our new, young team a chance to build relationships together, which is so important, as well as challenging them away from our home field."
The season will unofficially begin on Aug. 10 with the annual Blue/Gold Scrimmage at Cutchin Field. From there, the Racers will take part in two exhibition matches; away to Chattanooga on Aug. 17 and at home against Division II Southern Indiana on Aug. 20.
Murray State will officially open the season where it will spend a good deal of 2013; on the road with a three-match stretch. First, the Racers will travel to Evansville for the season opener on Aug. 23, followed by a trip to Northern Kentucky on Aug. 25. The Racers will close out the seasoning-opening road trip on Aug. 30 at Alabama A&M.
On Sep. 1, MSU will play its only non-conference game of the season in the home opener at Cutchin Field against UALR. The Racers will then close out their non-conference slate with another three-match road swing at South Alabama on Sep. 13, Troy on Sep. 15 and Arkansas State on Sep. 22.
The Racers will kick-off their 2013 OVC campaign at home, when they host Southeast Missouri on Sep. 27. Other home fixtures include UT Martin on Sep. 29, SIU Edwardsville on Oct. 11 and Eastern Illinois on Oct. 13.
This year's conference schedule also includes five away matches at Belmont on Oct. 4, Tennessee Tech Oct. 6, Eastern Kentucky on Oct. 18, Morehead State on Oct. 20 and Jacksonville State on Oct. 25. The Racers will close out the 2013 regular season at home on Nov. 1 with Senior Day against arch-rival Austin Peay.
