Ritzheimer Named to Capital One Academic All-America Third Team

2013 Capital One Academic All-America Baseball Team
Murray State senior outfielder Paul Ritzheimer was selected to the Capital One Academic All-America Third Team for baseball, the league office announced Friday. The teams are selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
The honor marks the second-straight year the Trenton, Ill., native was honored, after he was selected to the First Team a season ago. He becomes just the second MSU student-athlete to be a two-time honoree to the Capital One Academic All-America Team, joining former volleyball player Lee Ann Allen (1989-90).
He is one of four Breds, joining Carrell Boyd (3rd Team, 1983), Wes Cunningham (2nd Team, 2010) and Travis Isaak (2nd Team, 2012) to earn Academic All-America honors from CoSIDA.
Ritzheimer graduated this past May with a 4.0 grade-point average in geoscience. As a sophomore, Ritzheimer was the recipient of the 2011 Ohio Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete Award, the highest academic honor awarded by the league.
Ritzheimer closed out his three-year career by hitting .297 with 25 doubles, one triple, two home runs and 71 RBIs. He also scored 96 runs, drew 70 walks and ranks fifth on the all-time list after being hit by 28 pitches.
