Six Racers in Semifinals at Baras Fall Classic

Tournament Draws
Playing in their second consecutive weekend tournament, Murray State's women's tennis team saw six of seven individuals and one doubles team advance to the semifinal round at the Steve Baras Fall Classic held at Chattanooga.
Andrea Eskauriatza defeated Stein of Kansas State 7-6 (4), 6-4 to move on at the No. 1 draw. The Racers saw a pair of student-athletes advance at the No. 2 draw. Carla Suga defeated Alexa Flynn of Chattanooga and Eleonore Tchakarova held off Welcher of Lipscomb 7-5, 6-2.
In a tight three-set match, Megan Blue overcame Giovanna Baccarini of Alabama-Birmingham 6-1, 1-6, 7-6 (3). Erin Patton knocked off Plocher of KSU 6-2, 7-6 (4) and, after receiving a bye into the quarterfinals, Suzaan Stoltz swept Nicole of UT Martin 6-3, 6-0.
The doubles team of Eleonore and Verginie Tchakarova also advanced for the Racers. Playing at No. 2 doubles, they defeated Kromer and Djuknic of Lipscomb 8-0. The teams of Suga and Eskauriatza and Blue and Patton each played in hard-fought matches, but fell, 8-6, at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles respectively.
The tournament will continue tomorrow with first serve of doubles competition scheduled for 8:30 a.m. and singles set to follow at noon.Â
