Howson Leads The Racers At Old Waverly Tournament

Delaney Howson of the Murray State women's golf team carded a 1-over-par 73 for a spot in 13th place at The Waverly Tournament in Starkville, Miss., at Old Waverly Golf Club.
The MSU senior made one birdie and two bogeys in the opening round and had a spot in 13th place in the field of 59 players in the event hosted by Mississippi State.
The Racers recorded a score of 302 in the opening round and had a spot in seventh place among 13 teams. MSU was just behind sixth place East Tennessee State (300) and ahead of eight place Cincinnati and South Florida (310). Mississippi State (281) held an eight-shot lead on East Carolina (289). Georgia State (293) was in third place, with Florida International (294) and South Alabama (297) rounding out the top-6. The bottom part of the event had Memphis (313) in 10th with Southern Mississippi (326) in 11th place.
Murray State's Minta Yin was in 22nd place after a score of 75, while Sydney Trimble was in 37th place with a 78. Jackie Van Meter had a spot in 47th place with an 81, while Sophie Hillier was in 51st place with an 82.
The second round begins Tuesday at 8:30 a.m. with the final round set for Wednesday starting at the same time.
The first Racers' tee time is at 9:25 a.m. as MSU plays from the 10th tee with Hillier leading off, followed by Van Meter and Trimble at 9:36 a.m. and 9:47 a.m. Yin starts at 9:58 a.m. with Howson anchoring the lineup at 10:09 a.m.
Old Waverly is playing 6,113 yards and to a par of 72.
