Murray State freshman right hander Brandon Hicks was selected as the Tennessee Baseball Player of the Year by the Tennessee Baseball Coaches Association, the organization announced earlier this month. He will receive the award at a TBCA ceremony in Nashville, Tenn. in January.
Hicks earned the honor after going 10-1 with a 1.75 ERA in leading Collierville High School to their first ever state championship in 2013. He struck out 68 and walked only 18 over 64 innings in becoming just the second 10-game winner in school history.
Hicks was also selected as a first-team all-state honoree by the TBCA.
