Dynamic Duo - Williams & Payne Awarded OVC Weekly

Murray State's Jarvis Williams and Cameron Payne have been honored in back-to-back weeks as Ohio Valley Conference Newcomer of the Week and Freshman of the week in voting is conducted by the league's sports information directors.
The Racers' duo helped the Racers to a 4-0 mark in OVC play with a road win at Eastern Kentucky and a home victory over Austin Peay.
Williams, a junior from Macon, Ga., scored 16.5 points per game with 8.0 rebounds. For the week, he was 15-of-20 from the field for 75 percent. His 19 points and 11 rebounds at EKU was his seventh double-double of the season. Jarvis came back Saturday against APSU with 14 points and five rebounds.

Payne, a freshman from Bartlett, Tenn., scored 17.0 points per game average to go with 6.5 assists, 6.0 rebounds, 2.5 steals and 1.5 blocks. His stat line against EKU was impressive with 19 points, seven rebounds, five assists and three blocked shots and steals. He scored 15 points and had eight assists in the win over APSU. Payne has matched the MSU record of four OVC Freshman of the Week awards matching Lamont Sleets (1979-80) who was awarded the honor four times during the 1979-80 season. The Racers (9-7, 4-0 OVC) play a pair of games away from home this week. Thursday (Jan. 16) MSU plays at Eastern Illinois. The game will be aired locally on the Racer TV Network on the cable systems of Time Warner, Mediacom and Murray Electric and online at ESPN3.com. The OVCDigitalNetwork.com also has the game.
