McCormick Leads Racers At Links At Novadel

The Murray State men's golf team had a full day of competition Monday at the Austin Peay Intercollegiate where Duncan McCormick leads the way with a spot in 10th place in Hopkinsville, Kentucky., at the Links At Novadel.
McCormick carded scores of 71-69=140 and had a spot in 10th place in the field of 74 competitors to lead MSU. Jordan Smith had rounds of 71-70=141 and was in 13th place, while Matthew Zakutney was in 44th place after shooting 75-74=149. Jared Gosser had scores of 74-77=151 and was in 54th place, while Preston French was in 62nd place after scores of 80-76=156.
Brock Simmons is playing the event as an individual and was in 47th place with scores of 75-75=150.
The Racers carded scores of 291-289=580 and stood in seventh place after the first 36 holes of the 54-hole event. MSU trailed sixth place Southern Illinois at 578. Host Austin Peay was the leader at 558, with UT Martin (562), Eastern Kentucky (567), Belmont (570) & Tennessee Tech (577) rounded out the top-5.
The event, hosted by Austin Peay for the 15th year, is played at the Links at Novadell. The course is playing to a par of 72 and 6,841 yards. The final round is set for Tuesday morning with an 9 a.m. shotgun start.
