Racers Compete At Old Waverly Bulldog Invitational

The Murray State women's golf team played round one of the Old Waverly Bulldog Invitational Monday in Starkville, Miss.
The Racers had a spot in 11th place after the first round with a 309. Murray State was ahead of 12th place Mercer (311) and 13th place Cincinnati (318). Southern Mississippi had 10th place at 304, while South Alabama was in ninth at 303.
Abbi Stamper and Jacklyn Van Meter led the Racers in round one each with a 4-over-par 76 and a spot in 32nd place.
Sydney Trimble had a spot in 32nd place with a 77, while Sophie Hillier was in 55th place after an 80. Moa Folke fired an 81 and was in 61st place.
Host Mississippi State had the lead with a 285, ahead of South Florida (290), Samford (291), FIU (294) and Houston (296).
The event is a three-day 54-hole affair that ends Wednesday and is hosted by Mississippi State University at Old Waverly Golf Club.
Round two is set for Tuesday at Old Waverly with the Racers starting at 9:25 a.m. as they are paired with Southern Miss and Mercer.
