Racers Fall in Season Opener

The Murray State women's basketball team fell to Ohio, 111-60, Friday at the CFSB Center. The Racers (0-1) are now 19-28 in season openers and 22-21 in home openers.

In the first half, MSU struggled to stop the behind the arc points by the Bobcats (). Ohio put up 13 three-point shots compared to the Racers three made. Ohio went on a 27-0 to get a 39-10 lead. Murray State went into the half trailing 27-62.

MSU could not gain enough momentum in the second half to take control and slow down the Bobcats. The Racers held Ohio to only five behind the arc shots. The Racers were able to find some opportunities to get shots up, but couldn't stop Ohio and fell 111-60.

"At our scrimmage we had about 34 assists," said head coach Rob Cross, "tonight we didn't and we couldn't find the open player, and just didn't pass enough."

Ke'Shunan James came out strong after sitting out all last season and scored a team high 20 points along with grabbing down seven boards. Olivia Cunningham added 10 points for the Racers. Keiona Kirby tied her career high for asssits with four. Julia Fox and Jashae Lee had a new career highs for steals with two and three, respectively.

Murray State will face Alabama A&M Sunday at 3 p.m. at the CFSB Center.Â
