After signing four players for the spring of 2016 last week, Murray State head softball coach Kara Amundson added to the haul Monday with the signing of Madison Culver.
Culver is a 5-7 catcher from Riverview, Florida and East Bay High School in Gibsonton. Through three years with the Indians, Culver has turned in clips of .368 in 2012, .484 in 2013 and .450 last season. In addition to her solid hitting, Culver was outstanding behind the plate in 2014 as well, committing just two errors in 293 chances and throwing out would-be base stealers 66.2 percent of the time.
She is a three-time All-Western Conference selection and has been named All-Hillsborough County in each of the past three seasons as well. In 2013, Culver earned second team all-state honors and in 2014, she played her way back on to the all-state list, this time on the first team
Amundson on Culver: "We are so glad to have Madison round out our 2015 class. Madison will most definitely be an offensive boost to our line up and we look forward to her continued growth as a hitter. Defensively, she will be seen catching and possibly playing a corner. She is very vocal and is not afraid to pick-off runners."
The addition of Culver brings Amundson's 2016 class up to five players with the signings of Morgan Edwards, Brenna Finck, Leah Kesel and Amber Van Duyse last week.
