The Murray State women's basketball team will continue their homestand Tuesday against Blackburn College at 7 p.m.
MSU began their season 1-1 with a loss to Ohio, and then a win over Alabama A&M on Sunday. This is the first time the Racers will face the Beavers. With the score 102 against Alabama A&M, that marks the first time since Dec. 19, 2006 (vs. Jacksonville State) Murray State has scored triple digits against a Division I opponent.
In Murray State's game against Alabama A&M, four players came away with double-digit points including Keiona Kirby who led the team with 27 points. She was five-of eight from the three-point range setting a new career high. LeAsia Wright came off the bench to score 18, while dishing out five assists going three-for three from the free throw line. Olivia Cunningham recorded 13 points, while James had 12 points to go along with seven rebounds. Netanya Jackson pulled down a game-high 12 rebounds, and tied her career high in blocks with three.
Blackburn has not faced any opponents this season. The team boasts three returners, along with six newcomers. Senior Briana Rae averaged 13.2 points and 10.3 rebounds per game last season. Alicia George started 10 games for the Beavers last season as she shot 70.6 percent from the free throw line.Â
