Racers Put Four On All-OVC Soccer Team

Murray State seniors Julie Mooney and Pavlina Nepokojova along with freshmen Shelby Haworth and Harriet Withers were named to postseason honors in Ohio Valley Conference Women's Soccer.

The All-OVC selections were made after a vote from the league's head coaches and sports information directors.

Mooney, named to the first team, had 13 goals this season and is one goal from setting a MSU single-season mark. She is tied with Theresa Reedy who had 13 in 2004. Mooney already set a new mark for points in a season with 29 on 13 goals and three assists. She is six shots off her 2011 mark when she had 78. In career records, Mooney has 29 goals, five off Reedy's top mark of 34 set between 2001-04. Mooney's 15 assists are second all-time behind the 21 Rebecca Clay had between 2005-08 and her 73 points is off Reedy's mark of 81. Mooney became the first Racer to have two hat tricks in the same season.

Nepokojova, named to the second team, is only an assist from matching the MSU single-season mark. She scored her fourth goal of the season Friday at UT Martin. She has been a playmaker for the Racers in her senior season.

Haworth burst on the scene after she got her first start in the fourth game of the season. She finished the regular season with seven shutouts in 15 starts and her goals-against-average of 0.98 ranked her third in the league and fourth for a single-season at Murray State. She was also honored as OVC Goalkeeper of the Week three times.

Withers came off the bench until she started the final six regular-season games. She scored two goals in a win over Georgia State and ended the season with five goals and two assists.

The Racers are set to face Morehead State Thursday at 4 p.m. in the first round of the OVC Tournament in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. Southeast Missouri State is the host at Houck Stadium.
