Racers in Fourth After Day One of OVC Indoors

After one day at the OVC Championships in Nashville, Tenn., Murray State's track team is in fourth place with 33.5 points. Southeast Missouri is the team leader with 44 points followed by Eastern Illinois (43) and Tennessee State (40) rounding out the top three.
A total of six events have been completed with MSU medaling in three of them. The Racers accumulated a total of three second place finishes. The DMR team of Alicyn Hester, Taylor Adcock, Emma Gilmore and Brittany Bohn set the school record at 12:07.03 to finish in second place.
Tonia Pratt and Ashley Conway also took second place in their respective events. Pratt equaled her own school record in the weight throw with a toss of 18.96m (62'2.5"). Conway took second place in the pentathlon with 3614, the second highest in school history and just nine points shy of the top spot.
A number of Racers also qualified for tomorrows finals. Gilmore will represent MSU in the 800m while Hannah McAllister and LaShea Shaw are among the final eight in the 55m dash. Shaw is also in the finals for the 55m hurdles.
Also scoring for MSU was Katie Forshey. The senior finished tied for fourth in the high jump with a personal-best leap of 1.70m (5'7.25").
In addition to the finals, tomorrow's events also include the mile, 3,000m run and 4x400m run on the track. The pole vault, shot put, and triple jump will also be competed.
