MSU Golf Competes in Nichols Intercollegiate

WOMEN'S RESULTS I MEN'S RESULTSÂ
The Murray State  men's and women's golf teams competed in the second annual Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate this afternoon at the Sevierville Golf Club, hosted by Tennessee Tech.
After the first round, the Murray State women's team had a commanding lead over the field with a team score of 315 for a 31-over par finish against Marshall (317) in second place and Eastern Kentucky (318) in third place. Â
Senior Delaney Howson once again led the Racers after firing a first round score of 70. The next closest score in the field is an Indiana State 74. Sydney Trimble and Sophie Hillier ended the round tied for 15th place with scores of 80 while Jacklyn Van Meter carded a round of 85 for 41st place. Rounding out team play for the Racers was Minta Yin with a score of 88 for 56th place.
In individual play, Abbi Stamper fired a round of 77 for 8th place and Gina Nuzzo carded an 86 to end the round in 49th place.
Other team scores include: West Georgia (319), Indiana State (320), Belmont (323), Evansville (323) Austin Peay (327), Presbyterian College (327), Tennessee Tech (329), Northern Kentucky (334), Tennessee State (355) and Northern Kentucky (367).
The ladies are playing the par-70 Highlands Course which spans 6,372 yards. The course features four par-5 and six par-3 holes. The women will compete in one more round of 18 holes Tuesday morning starting at 8:30 a.m.
The Racer men finished the two-round day with team scores of 306-303=609 for 10th place in the field of 13 teams. Leading the field for the men after two rounds was Tennessee with scores of 283-282=565. Eastern Kentucky carded team scores of 294-291=585 for second place while West Georgia had scores of 297-296=593 for third place.
Duncan McCormick and T.J. Ferry tied for 32nd place after both fired rounds of 74-77=151. Preston French carded rounds of 79-75=154 for 46th place while Matt Zakutney took 52nd place with rounds of 79-76=155. Rounding out the team field for the Racers at the end of the day was Jordan Smith who carded rounds of 81-75=156 for 58th place in the field of 73 individuals.
Other team scores include: UT Martin (595), Detroit (596), Evansville (596), Longwood (599), Tennessee Tech (600), Northern Kentucky (600), Tennessee State (614) and Wright State (629).
The men are competing on the par-72 River Course, extending over 7,155 yards and featuring four par-5 and four par-3 holes. The men will also play one more round on Tuesday morning starting at 10:00 a.m.Â
