Football Holds First Spring Practice

Murray State held its first spring practice Saturday afternoon with an two-hour up-tempo workout on the turf at Stewart Stadium.

The practice, which was conducted in helmets, is the first of 15 practices that will be held this spring.

"First off we are excited to be out here," said head coach Chris Hatcher. "I was really pleased with the work we got in today. We have a lot of new drills and a lot of new players, but all in all, I thought we had a lot of enthusiasm. I am excited where we are at in the offseason up to this point and I think we are only going to continue to get better."

The Racers began their installation of the offense and defense, and will continue with this through the next couple practices. They also spent time working on all phases of special teams.

The team will return to field for workouts on Tuesday and Thursday before taking a week off for spring break. Both practice sessions are set to begin at 3:45 p.m.
