Murray State women's golf student-athletes Delaney Howson and Sydney Trimble were each honored in post-season awards handed out by the Ohio Valley Conference Monday evening in Muscle Shoals, Ala.
The awards banquet was held after the first round of the OVC Championship.
Howson, a senior out of Newmarket, Ontario, was named All-OVC First Team, while Trimble, from Paducah, Ky., earned a spot on the OVC All-Newcomer Team.
Howson, one of the candidates for OVC Player of the Year which will be awarded at the end of the tournament, becomes MSU's first four-time All-OVC selection and only the fifth in the history of OVC women's golf. The others to accomplish this feat included Mercedes Huarte (Jacksonville State) in 2008, Chelsea Harris (Austin Peay) in 2011, Lucia Fernandez Valdes (Jacksonville State) in 2012 and Morehead State's Marisa Kamelgarn in 2013.
Howson leads the league with a 73.3 scoring average and carded the lowest round in MSU history last fall when she shot a 6-under-par 66 in Clarksville. Howson has helped the Racers win two tournaments this season and has won three individual titles.
Trimble is ninth in the OVC with a 77.8 scoring average. She had two top-10 finishes this season and a low round of 73 at Ocala, Fla., on March 25.
Howson is the 38th Racer to be named All-OVC and Trimble is the seventh at MSU to be named OVC All-Newcomer since it was started in 2006.
