Racer Golf Heads To Final At Kentucky Open

Murray State Golf has several players, professional and amateur, that made the cut at the 95th Kentucky Open Men's Championship at Hunting Creek Country Club in Prospect, Ky.
The best performance so far from a current member of the Racers continues to be sophomore Matthew Zakutney who fired rounds of 70-74=144 for a spot in seventh place. Zakutney was part of the top-72 players that made the cut for Thursday's final 18 holes.
Professional and former Racer Jared Wolfe had scores of 69-71=140 and was in third place.
Other former Racers making the cut and playing as pros included: Hunter Ford in 17th place with rounds of 78-69=147 and Cameron Carrico in 20th place after scores of 79-69=148. Nick Newcomb was in 30th place with rounds of 74-75=149 and a pair of former Racers, Patrick Newcomb and Mitchell Moore shared 40th place. Newcomb had scores of 70-81=151 and Moore was 78-73=151.Former Racer and amateur, Josh Rhodes made the cut in 52nd place with scores of 74-78=152.
Current Racer Brock Simmons and former Racer Michael Craft each missed the cut with scores of 79-78=157. Â Current Racer Duncan McCormick also had a 157 on rounds of 76-81. Current MSU player T.J. Ferry had an 87 and withdrew.
Former MSU Baseball player Britt Stevenson had scores of 85-82=167.
The overall leader heading into the final 18 is defending champion Rick Cochran with scores of 70-67=137. He has a two shot lead over amateur Cooper Musselman.
The Kentucky Open is a 54-hole tournament that features amateurs and professionals.
The course at Hunting Creek is playing 7,157 yards and par-72.
