Bjorkvall Earns 1st OVC Honor; Haworth Nets 2nd

Murray State soccer student-athletes Rebecca Bjorkvall and Shelby Haworth were named Ohio Valley Conference Defensive and Goalkeeper of the Week in voting conducted by the league's sports information directors.
Bjorkvall, a junior from Aland, Finland, helped the Racers to a pair of 3-0 shutouts to open league play with wins over Tennessee Tech (Sept. 26) and Jacksonville State (Sept. 28). Bjorkvall played every minute of the two matches and had two assists in MSU's win over TTU.
Haworth, a freshman from Hilliard, Ohio, minded the net for every minute of back-to-back shutouts for the Racers. She lowered her goals-against-average to 0.99 in recording her second and third shutouts in eight starts.
The Racers (6-5, 2-0 OVC) have currently tied the school record from 2005 with a five-match win streak heading into a pair of road games this weekend. Their Friday game at SIUE begins at 7 p.m. at Korte Stadium in Edwardsville, Ill. MSU plays at SEMO Sunday at 1 p.m. in Cape Girardeau, Missouri at Houck Stadium.
