Gold Holds On For Game Two Victory

The Gold squad extended its series lead to 2-0 Friday with a 7-6 victory over the Navy in game two of the Murray State baseball Fall World Series.
Matthew Dudas, Caleb Hicks, Tyler Lawrence and Ramsey Scott all recorded RBIs in the contest. Hicks led the way going 3-for-5 at the plate, while Kipp Moore and Scott each had a pair of hits in the victory. Moore scored four runs on the day.
Cody Gilbert led the Navy with a three-run home run in the fifth inning. Gilbert's blast gave the Navy the lead for the first time this series at 3-2, before the Gold responded with a four-run bottom half of the inning. Jack Hranec led the way with two hits for the Navy team.
Trailing 6-3 in the seventh, the Navy again responded to tie the game at 6-6 with a three-run inning. The Gold squad was able to plate the game-winning run in the bottom of the eighth to push its advantage in the series to two.
Hranec got the start on the mound for the Navy in the contest while Austin Dubsky got the call for the Gold.
Game three, originally scheduled for Saturday, has now been moved to Sunday. First pitch is 3 p.m. from Reagan Field.
