Rain Suspends Play At ASU Fall Beach Classic

Monday Update
The Racers had their second round at the Arkansas State Fall Beach Classic halted by heavy rain. Play was suspended Monday morning at the Peninsula Golf & Racquet Club in Gulf Shores, Alabama. If the weather improves, play will resume Tuesday with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. Today's round will not be made up as the event has been reduced to 36 holes.
Sunday's Round 1 Wrap-up
Senior Jared Gosser shot an even par 72 Sunday to lead the Murray State men's golf team in the Arkansas State Fall Beach Classic at the Peninsula Golf & Racquet Club in Gulf Shores, Alabama. As a team, the Racers shot a 304 to finish in a tie for sixth place, 16 shots off leaders Auburn.
Gosser, who finished in a tie for fifth place in a field of 62 players, had two birdies on the day on the first and 15th holes. Brock Simmons followed Gosser with a 75 to finish three-over-par, while Preston French fired a 78 to finish the day at six over. Gabe Wheeler rounded out the scoring for MSU by shooting a seven-over-par 79, while Duncan McCormick and Matthew Zakutney each shot an 82.
Murray State was one of the three OVC teams to participate in the event, finishing above UT Martin, which ended the day in 11th out of 11 teams, and behind third place Tennessee Tech. The combination of the Cypress and Marsh courses at The Peninsula played to a par 72 and 7,185 yards.
The Racers will continue play in the ASU Fall Beach Classic on Monday and Tuesday, playing 18 holes each day.
