Former Racer Named Cincinnati Reds Pitching Coach

Former Murray State baseball player Mark Riggins has been named the new pitching coach for the Cincinnati Reds, announced last Thursday by the organization.
Riggins, who has also spent time as the pitching coach for both the Chicago Cubs and St. Louis Cardinals, has spent the past four seasons as the Reds' minor league pitching coordinator. Riggins played at Murray State for Coach Johnny Reagan from 1976-79 and had a career record of 15-4 as a lefty pitcher and led the Racers in strikeouts in 1977.
After graduating from MSU, Riggins spent 29 years in the Cardinals' organization, first as a minor league pitcher, then manager and coach, before spending two seasons with the Cubs prior to his time in the Reds' organization.
