Stevens and Steigerwald Win OVC Soccer Honors

Murray State soccer's Taylor Stevens and Alex Steigerwald took home adidas® OVC weekly honors, the league announced Tuesday, with Stevens being named Defensive Player of the Week and Steigerwald being named Goalkeeper of the Week.
Stevens, who earned the award for the fourth consecutive week, was quite the leader on defense for the Racers in both matches last week. She helped lead the back line to two shutouts and limited Eastern Illinois to just six shots over the full 90 minutes. Stevens also had a goal and an assist in the match against EIU and assisted in the game-winner against SIUE.Â
Steigerwald won her third consecutive award on the strength of back-to-back clean sheet performances. She started the week by making six saves in the shutout against SIUE and followed that with four saves against EIU.
The Racers will be back in action at Cutchin Field on Thursday as they take on Austin Peay in their regular-season finale. First kick is set for 3 p.m. Live streaming of the match will be provided courtesy of the OVC Digital Network.
