After topping 4700 for just the second time in school history on Saturday, the Murray State rifle team moved up one spot to second in the latest Top 20 rankings, released by the Collegiate Rifle Coaches Association on Monday.
West Virginia stayed at No. 1 for the second consecutive week, while TCU dropped one spot from second to third. Alaska held strong at fourth and Ohio State vaulted from eighth to fifth to round out the latest top five.
The 4705 shot by MSU at last week's Gamecock Open was not only the second time in school history the Racers have eclipsed 4700 in scoring, but the second time this season as well. Since breaking 4690 in the third match of the season for the first time in school history, MSU has now shot at least 4692 in each of its five matches since.
Murray State will return to action on Jan. 16 when it travels to Oxford, Mississippi to take on Ole Miss and Jacksonville State.
