Murray State women's golf coach Velvet Milkman announced the signing of three student-athletes to join the Racers' program in the fall of 2016 as freshmen.
The trio of new Racers includes: Charli Doss (Paducah, Ky.), Earlena Sheets (Murray, Ky.) and Raeysha Surendran (Selangor, Malaysia).
"I'm excited about the addition of these three student-athletes to the Racer family," Milkman said. "They're all very talented and possess high character and very strong work ethic. They will be tremendous representatives of our program both on and off the golf course."
Charli Doss - Paducah, Ky. - Tilghman High School
Doss was an eight-year member of the Tilghman golf squad. In the summer of 2014, she placed fourth Paducah Sun Ladies Amateur and the Kentucky Lake Dam Village Junior Amateur.
"I consider Charli to be a diamond in the rough," Milkman said. "She has not received a lot of publicity but she has a tremendous work ethic and the ability to develop into a very good player.
Earlena Sheets - Murray, Ky. - Calloway County High School
Sheets was a member of four Region-1 championship teams at Calloway County and had a pair of Kentucky State Runner up teams. As a senior, she had a first-place finish at the Graves County invitational with a score of 76 and a second-place finish at the Marshall County Invitational with a 73.
"Earlena has a fundamentally sound golf swing and has been a part of some strong teams at Calloway Country High School," Milkman said. "She's just starting to come into her own and beginning to have individual success. Her upside potential is tremendous and I look forward to watching her progress over the next four years."
Raeysha Surendran – Selangor, Malaysia – SMK Kota Kemuning Secondary School
"Raeysha is a very steady player with good tournament experience," Milkman said. "She will provide consistency in our line up and has the ability to be a top player on the OVC."Â Â
Surendran is a member of Malaysian National Team and won championships at the Kota Permai Ladies Tournament and the Sutera Harbor Junior Amateur Champion. She placed fourth at the Malaysian Open with scores of 85-78-74 and had a fourth place finish at the Malaysian Junior Open with scores of 75-76-78. She placed 11th at the Malaysian Amateur 83-80-77-77.
