Lawrence Named Top-150 Draft Prospect

Murray State junior catcher Tyler Lawrence has been ranked No. 140 on the Perfect Game top-150 college draft prospects list released earlier this week by the baseball scouting website. Lawrence was also ranked 239th in the top-250 by the site amongst all prospects.
Lawrence, who was a Second Team All-OVC member in 2015, was the only Racer to start in all 56 games last season for MSU and was second on the squad with a .302 batting average. He led the Racers with 62 hits, 13 doubles, 12 home runs, 46 RBIs, 27 walks and a .571 slugging percentage. Lawrence was also tied for second on the team with 36 runs scored on the season.
During OVC play, Lawrence hit .324 with eight home runs and 27 RBIs. His eight homers were fourth-most in the league and his 22 walks ranked fifth in the league. Lawrence also ranked second in the conference by throwing-out 10 runners attempting to steal on the season.
Lawrence and the rest of the Racers open the 2016 campaign Feb. 19-21 when they travel to Daytona Beach, Fla., for a three-game series with Bethune-Cookman.
