Racers Finish Strong at GVSU Big Meet

Murray State track & field team competed in the GVSU Big Meet Friday and Saturday in Allendale, Michigan.

Day Two
While the snow was falling outside in Allendale, Michigan, inside the Racers were finding their way to personal records once again.

Alicyn Hester made it to 10th on the All-Time Best for Murray State when she finished the 800m in 2:18.60. Emani Griffin and Raeven Wilson finished in personal bests 2:21.78 and 2:21.83 respectively.

Vallery Korir finished the mile in 5:10.15, which was not only a personal best but a time fast enough to land her in 9th on the MSU All-Time Best list. Abbie Oliver had a season best finish of 5:16.64, while Leah Krause had a personal best 5:16.62. Meagan Smith and Emily Evans had season best times of 5:21.29 and 5:45.52, respectively.

Six other Racers in the mile racked up personal best times. Rebekah Priddy finished in 5:30.70, while Heatherly Paschall and Emily Flaherty with 5:31.20 and 5:31.89, respectively. Jacquelyn Thate finished in a personal best 5:35.91, while Rebecca Morris racked up a personal best time of 5:58.04.

In the 60m dash, Olivia Brice had a personal best time of 8.75. Deja Rodgers finished in 7.90, while Victoria Yocum and Taylor McCammon finished in 8.03.

Kristen Higgins ran a 26.81 in the 200m for a personal best time. LaShea Shaw and Morgan McNeely ran in respective times of 26.29 and 26.93.

Taylor Adcock ran the 400m in 1:00.05, while Summer Wheeler ran it in 1:00.54 for a personal best time. Morgan McNeely and Kimmy Sibert had personal best times of 1:01.51 and 1:04.95. Deja Rodgers also had a personal best in the 400m with a time of 1:06.26.

Taylor McCammon finished the 60m hurdles in 9.11 to qualify for the finals where she would complete the event in 8.95. Kennedy Berkley had a season best finish with a time of 9.88.

Taylor Horton completed the high jump with a personal best 1.50m (4'11").

Jill Jachino is now fifth on the Murray State All-Time Bests list with her pole vault 2.61m (8'6.75"). She also competed in the triple jump and went a distance of 10.49m (34'5").

Taylor McCammon had her own personal best when she competed in the long jump and went a distance of 5.17m (16'11.5"), while Kiara Austin went 4.70m (15'5").

During the shot put, Tonia Pratt threw a season best distance of 14.09m (46'2.75"). Abbie Lukens and Darcy Sullivan competed and threw for respective distances of 11.22m (36'9.75") and 9.11m (29'10.75").

Brianna McCarthy set a personal record and jumped to seventh on the MSU best list in the weight throw when she threw a distance of 14.48m (47'6.25"). Abbie Lukens threw for a personal best 13.17m (43'2.50"), while Alexis Schleper threw for a season best 12.18m (39'11.5"). Mariana Keller and Darcy Sullivan had personal best distances of 10.75m (35'3.25") and 8.50m (27'10.75") respectively.

Three Racers made their way to the all-time bests list in the 5000m, starting with Vallery Korir who found herself second with a time of 17:19.01. Caroline Grogan is now fourth best time in Murray State in the 5000m in 17:40.96. Meagan Smith also found her way into 6th on the list when she finished in 17:56.31. Leah Krause found her way just seconds behind making the Murray State all-time list with a time of 18:15.10, while Emily Flaherty had a personal beset 18:37.56.

Emma Gilmore and Brittany Bohn ran season-best 800m with times of 2:14.10 and 2:16.35, respectively.

Taylor Adcock now sits comfortably in 8th on the MSU all-time list when she finished the 600m in 1:37.66. Natalie Pattin finished 10th at the meet with a time of 1:38.43. Four Racers set career-bests starting with Raeven Wilson who finished the 600m in 1:42.08.Jacquelyn Thate and Kimmy Siebert also had career-best timings of 1:42.39 and 1:48.24. Emily Evans also had a personal best when she ran the 600m in 1:51.57.

LaShea Shaw competed in both the 60m and the 60m hurdles and finished in 8.02 and 9.05 in each respective event.

Ashley Conway finished 5th and jumped a distance of 5.56m in the long jump, while Tonia Pratt threw a distance of 19.46m in the weight throw.

Murray State will head to the Ohio Valley Conference Indoor Championships on Feb. 27-28 in Charleston, Illinois.Â
